Last time I discussed some of the science behind why a vampire could exist, and not break the laws of physics, by not having a reflection. Here, in the first of my novel readings, is the explanation given by Vincent to his mortal lover Marie when she accidentally discovers his vampire trait of not appearing in a mirror.

Up to this point in their relationship, Vincent has challenged Marie by his behavior, but now he demonstrates his vampire nature with the classic mirror trick. Beyond this section, approximately 5 minutes, is a conversation between the lovers. Being in dialogue, I won’t attempt to read it (because I don’t think I have a convincing voice for Vincent). The mirror incident interrupts their lovemaking, but the only way to settle Marie is for Vincent to explain what he sees when he looks in the mirror, and then show her his reflection—the image he cannot see.
