For human beings sex is a vehicle of procreation and the two are practically synonymous. But for vampires, the function of sex means each kind of sexual activity fulfills a specific task. The mating sex is then different to all other forms of sex in being specialized for reproduction. It has a specific preparation and follows with conditions, which are necessary to meet, for successful impregnation.

Female cycles.

Female vampires fall into heat, and only during the peak of the cycle is the female receptive for a brief but sexually intense period. Outside the mating times, sex is truly just for fun being free of the procreation burden. Because of the female’s physical preparation for the mating opportunity then there are rules providing strict guides to the conduct of both the male and female. Unlike other creatures restricted by their hormones, as to when and how they multiply, vampires write of their sexual experiences and record in their manuals of love the ways to achieve the best from an unavoidable process called the mating ritual.

Eau de Sex

The way we smell is so important to us, we drown our bodies in perfumes to improve our chances of creating and maintaining a relationship. Scent is a necessary part of our body image and sex sells this in the form of aromas to attract the perfect partner. So imagine a fragrance so sexually aggressive it drives any male, in a given vicinity, into a sexual frenzy. The female vampires generate such a scent to transform into a vampire sex-goddess, settle their charged condition, while they ensure the male can’t refuse the sex on offer. Regardless the idea of mating might sound like an opportunity to good to pass, after all the girl is saying more than “yes please,” mating for the male vampire is physically demanding and even painful. Given the chance to think about it, he would likely say no.

Vampire Sexual Secrets

In the novel, the stages and processes of the mating ritual are described by Marie. She discovers the mating process slowly and eventually observes the entire routine. Mostly she details her feelings over the mating when her lover Vincent is the male the vampires entice with their sexually irresistible scent. At first it is an emotional stress for her, when Vincent slips away at midnight to preform the mating, but after Marie gives him permission for sex, it is her duty to watch the proceedings. It is a sacrifice she makes in the hope to assist Vincent, to pay for his freedom in the form of an heir, but she has her reservations. Once she sees the way the sexual frenzy batters and bruises Vincent, Marie calls the preparation of the mating “extreme sports sex.” She doesn’t get any sympathy from the other vampires because the females don’t care what happens to the male. After a feed and some rest, his supernatural powers rejuvenate his body so it really doesn’t matter how much he suffers.

The mating ritual occurs in regular cycles, but not often, and failure by the male to fertilize is common. In my novel the mating sex forms the start of negotiations between Marie and the female vampires. They provide many good arguments for continuing the difficult task of generating a male over the ease of biting a human and converting him. The sex of mating is only the beginning of possible problems that plague the vampires in their efforts to have children. Because vampire children are so rare and precious, Marie realizes why the vampires need their immortality, just so they can exist long enough to see the next generation.

Mating forms the last topic in necessary sex so now I want to look at the consequences of sex and ask what has sex got to do with the weather?  How to create dark clouds on the horizon and make rain with vampire style sex is definitely a case of mind over matter.
