By Suzanne Carré

Oh vampire from the night, I come to thee,
In shadows deep, I wait for you to show,
I want to feel the love thou promised me,
Embrace, the way that only lovers know.
With your caress, my heart does quiver too,
Anticipating your transforming kiss,
In dreams, is all I ever seem to do,
I never needed you as much as this.
Yet only now do you appear tonight,
I hear in your soft words evoked desires,
And wonder when I shall receive thy bite,
I beg thee: hurry, least the dark expires.

My vampire, bite before the moon does wane,
Let not this love and marriage be in vain.
