So far I’ve talked about the erotic nature of the vampire fangs and how sex works during the bite to pleasure the participants and control the feeding. Now in the final part of the Bite series, I want to look at the consequences of using the fangs on a human. If the vampire persists in drinking blood from one human, they convert the donor into a vampire like themselves. This process of conversion, which is known as vampire marriage, is different for male and female vampires and depends on whether the recipient they’ve chosen to enter the preternatural domain is male or female. Because the vampires require the neck of their donor for more than one nibble then the number of times they return is not as important as the time they spend feeding or the interest they take in the blood so obtained.
Good girls don’t
In my novel Vampire Sexual Secrets, Vincent makes a point that vampire females don’t need to marry and so they rarely do. The females have fangs designed purely for feeding, not staying the distance required for conversion, so they need to visit the same donor night after night to change them into vampires. If the female vampire can’t resist a male human, the attraction to return is usually sexual, and if she converts him it’s because of her infatuation.
There is one catch though. After conversion, the man has become a vampire, yes he’s immortal, but he’s classified a virgin male in that he has yet to sample the blood of a human for himself. Once he does, and he converts the human he chose, then he loses his virginity and completes his conversion to vampire. This means in the end, the female vampire has effectively married a pair, her husband and the woman he used to become fully functional as a vampire male. Biting a human female and converting her to a favorite is so much more simpler, and purely for pleasure.
Females who marry a man and leave him a virgin create bed-attending males, a vampire term for the virgin with a purely sexual purpose. Vincent claimed only one female in his family married to create bed-attending males, his great, great grandmother, but she also had a political agenda, using her boys to gain prestige and wealth from the ruling families in Europe.
Bad boys must
As with everything else about males, the marriage of a male is complicated and the marriage by a male vampire also has its challenges. Importantly, male vampires are affected by the flavor of human blood, and depending how hot the blood is determines how much the males falls in love with the donor. For this reason his love for the donor is independent of whether he’s attracted to another male or a female.
It does matter about the choice of partner if he’s a virgin and he needs to complete his conversion process. To become a functional vampire male, he needs to find a human female and marry her by biting and staying until she changes. He creates in her a wife, the vampire status of a female far more important to the immortals than the function of a human wife.
In the Vampire Sexual Secrets, Vincent intends to marry Marie and give her the vampire wife status but the implications of her conversion makes him hesitate to destroy the love he has for her. He also recounts the marriage of each human by the males of his family, a long family history where some of his ancestors married several times. Only one of the vampires married many times and kept his wives to make him powerful in the supernatural world, his great, great grandfather. This same male conducted a romance with the female vampire who created the bed-attending males, but he didn’t marry her because vampires do not marry other vampires.
It is the fangs which allow the vampire to bite and also determines how the vampire bites. The fangs are erogenous zones, urging the vampire to seek sexual gratification, either physically or using psychic sex. The shape and function of the fangs is sex-dependent and the sexual appetite is a function of the blood a vampire extracts with their fangs. Due to the sexual and emotional impact of fresh human blood, the females vampires usually hunt in their night visits, while the males often convert their donors by biting in the vampire marriage. So now you know there’s so much more fangs and the sexual culture related to them. After this, you’ll probably never see a pair of fangs as just a set of sharp teeth ever again.
